Local Activities

Touring and Sightseeing:

Invermoriston is very central to the heart of the Highlands and is within touring distance to the Isle of Skye, Applecross, The Cairngorms, Nevis Range, Glencoe.Speyside, Grampian and the Moray Coast. More details on each of these areas is available over the web. All are within an easy days drive. You can head north, south, east and west to enjoy the best of what Highlands has to offer.

Walking:

Within a 50 miles (80kilometres) radius there are some 50 Munros (mountains exceeding 3,000 feet, 914 metres), ranging from Ben Nevis (the 'Ben') to some of the easier mountains of the Drumotcher Pass; where your climb starts at over 1600 feet....

There are many low level walks for the more sedate, including in and around Fort Augustus, Invermoriston and Invergarry forests and, of course, Glen Cannich and Glen Affric.

 

Photography;

Wild-life is in abundance, most of the UK's mammals have homes in the area. Red Squirrel, Pine Marten, Wild Boar, Wild Cat, Red Deer, Sika Deer and birds of prey, to name a few. In addition there are many local RSBP sites with speciality birds that are rare throughout the rest of the UK. A heaven for any wildlife photographer.

...and then there is the scenery, the landscape that has a post-card around every corner. Where those 'Kodak' moments never stop.

Fishing and Shooting:

There is fishing throughout the area. You can book in advance and use our rods on the Loch for salmon and trout fishing. (There is a charge for boat hire and permit). For some of the finest river fishing in the Highlands, there is loch fishing from boats to even local stocked loch fishing. Sea fishing is available on the west coast, where many boats are available to take you on specific trips. Organised shooting and stalking can be arranged in season, through the local estates. We are happy to advise on these Highland countryside pursuits. Just email us in advance of your stay.

Extreme Sports:

For the more adventurous ones, there is off-road driving experiences (includes quad biking), abseiling, ice climbing, white water rafting, canyoning, long bow and cross bow archery, sailing, water ski-ing, snow ski-ing, snowboarding. Virtually any extreme sport is available for you to partake in, within just a few miles.

Golfing

There are a few golf courses all within a short drive. Fort Augustus, Culcabook,Torvean (Inverness), Fort William, Loch Carron, to name a few.
